News From My Writing Desk

Happy Spring! On this Memorial Day weekend, I'm thinking of my dad and my brother, both named Bill, both now passed away. They served their country in World War II and during the Vietnam War. I'm thinking about them now, and all the men and women who served this country, and how grateful I am that they are willing to put their lives on the line for my freedom. Thank you all.
I am also happy to announce my latest release, The Wolf at the Door. It is a fairy tale - a funny little story inspired by my love of all things geek. I've posted it on my home page under Fantasy.
Until we meet again, have a wonderful day.

Spring is the time to sweep the dust of winter out the door. I've been cleaning up my book list and putting a new face on some of my books. Circumstantial Evidence is now Dangerous Stranger, and I decided to stop using my pseudonym and put the books I'd published under the name Lenore Butler under my own. Mary's Heart is now A Tender Heart, and Hannah's Dream is now Don't Look Back. The last two are clean, historical books that I really enjoyed writing, but they never found their intended audience. Hopefully, now that they are featured with my other books, they will.
I'm writing this on Mother's Day and send out my sincerest wishes that you all have a lovely day.

Here's the latest installment of Libby the Psychic Dog's adventures. This time, Libby must find out why two thugs are following a young woman. Along the way, she makes new friends, including a cat named Herbert and a dog named Eddie. The story is written for adults, but there is nothing dirty going on. The ebook, Quandary on the Quay, is available on Amazon.com.
Nick Dandino has been talking to me lately, too. I think he will get a new story soon.
May you the wind always be at your back as you celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

I began the new Libby the Psychic dog episode today. One chapter, but it's a start. It feels good to finally want to write again, and I'm aiming for a chapter a day till I'm completely in the grove. A thank you to all who love Libby and have asked for a new story. Be assured it's on its way.

Happy New Year!
I've received some nice reviews this week. Many want me to write more of my Divine Detective Agency series. I know it's been a while since I've published a book, but since my brother passed away in November, I've been out of sorts. Losing a sibling is not like losing a parent. It's the person you opened Christmas gifts with as a child, and the one who understood certain things that no one else could. He would visit us every weekend, and my husband and I have been missing him. I wish he could know how much. My hope is that in the new year, I will be able to pull myself out of this and begin a new case for Nick Dandino, Libby the Psychic Dog, and find another old house to haunt. Thank you for all your support this last year. It's been the tonic I needed for my soul.

I've been going through some personal things that have kept me from writing. On November 16, my brother, Bill, passed away. He was a great supporter of my work and I miss him. I believe he is in a better place and will inspire me the next time I sit in front of my computer. It's hard when you lose a member of your family, but losing a sibling is especially hard. They are your first friends, teachers, and champions. Rest in peace, Bill.
Libby the Psychic Dog has been pestering me to write her a new adventure. I told her I would, so look for a new Libby short in the future.
The following books will be my Saturday freebies through the end of the year:
November 28 - A Christmas Mystery
December 5 - The House on the Shore
December 12 - The Kid at the Candy Counter
December 19 - A Christmas Mystery
December 25 - My First Christmas
If you are an author seeking a one-of-a-kind book cover, please go to my page on SelfPubBookCovers.com. I love creating the book covers and sharing them with all of you. All genres are represented, but I seem drawn to historical romance.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season full of love and laughter.

I am happy to announce that the revision of my Truelock novel is finished and it is available on Amazon. The novel is a family saga called Their Best Dreams. I took the title from a line I paraphrased in Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s “Sonnets from the Portuguese” – “…God’s gifts put man’s best dreams to shame.”
The story begins in 1705 when Jedediah Truelock builds a two-room cabin near the Cape Cod Bay, and takes you on a journey through the 18th century. The hopes, schemes, and dreams of the Truelocks are often dashed by their human frailties. While history has painted Lawrence Truelock as a Revolutionary War hero who was one of the first men in Massachusetts to free his slaves, his son, Stephen, knows the truth about his father, a truth that will lead to the disappearance of his dear wife, Mercy. When she vanishes, the story takes a different turn as the mystery of her disappearance drives her husband to take drastic actions.
Their Best Dreams is an historical novel about the lives and loves of the Truelock family. It will captivate you with characters and events that are both heartwarming and heartbreaking. It is available now on Amazon as a Kindle ebook and in paperback. The book is part of the Kindle Unlimited and Prime programs, so if you’re a member, you can read it for free!

How was your summer? I've been cooped up inside for months and hadn't realized how long I've been neglecting you, dear readers. Here's the scoop on what I've been up to.
I’ve been working on a total revision of my book Mercy in the Moonlight, and it’s been a trip. I think this tale of Mercy Truelock will better complement Under Rose’s Spell and will satisfy those who felt the Mercy in the Moonlight was ponderous and unbelievable. When I publish the final work, it will be in the form of one book rather than a series. As for Daughters of the Evening Star, it, too, has been revised, and it will be added to The Room in Grandma’s House as a free story. When the stories are ready for publication, I will announce it here and on social media.
Every Saturday, I offer one of my stories for free on Amazon. If you haven't read one yet, this is a great way to get to know me. My books are also available as part of the Prime Lending Library and the Kindle Unlimited program. See the list of FREE titles for October, 2015 posted on this page.
I’ve also been dabbling in the creation of book covers. My link on SelfPubBookCovers is woofie_2015. Thank you for taking a look and please let me know what you think.
As we head into autumn, I will miss the changing leaves and the brisk, chilly winds. Stoke up the fireplace and have a cup of cocoa on me. While I may be stuck here in this tropical environment, I am with you in spirit, and I like whipped cream, not marshmallows. Thanks for stopping by!

July 15, 2015My latest Divine Detective Agency mystery short is here! The Kid at the Candy Counter is now live on Amazon.
Nick Dandino is on the case! When an old friend asks Nick to find out how a young boy died, he gladly takes the case, and his investigation leads to an adventure which began with a duel in 1798 and ends on August 24, 1969 – one week after the Woodstock music festival. Heaven is bustling with new arrivals as casualties of the Vietnam War arrive in droves, but Nick Dandino, the lead detective for the Divine Detective Agency, has more to worry about than how to bypass the lines at Starbucks. His boss is taking unauthorized trips to Earth, and his friend, the nun who raised him at the orphanage in Hoboken, has asked him to help a young boy who can’t remember how he died. Nick happily agrees to help the youngster, whose memory is limited to a desire for candy, but Nick is sidetracked by another case, that of a missing girl, whose fate is tied to the boy’s by their connection to Clarence Peabody – Nick’s boss, and the head of the Divine Detective Agency. |
